Why Don't We Offer Monthly Visits?

At Neighbourhood Heroes, our commitment is to the health and beauty of your lawn—not just to providing as many service options as possible. We’re often asked whether we could offer a simple “once-a-month” mowing service, but after years of experience caring for Edmonton properties, we strongly advise against monthly mowing schedules and choose not to offer them. 

The Problem with Monthly Mowing 

Lawns in our climate grow fast—especially through the heart of the summer. If your lawn is cut only once every month, the grass can easily reach a foot tall or more before our team arrives. This creates several problems: 

Overgrown grass is difficult to cut cleanly, often leaving the lawn looking uneven or stressed.

Cutting more than a third of the grass blade (which we'll have to do to return the lawn to a reasonable height) at once can shock the turf, making it more vulnerable to disease, drought, and weed invasion.

Excessive clippings can clump or smother healthy grass underneath, even when mulched.

Each visit becomes a rescue mission, not a maintenance routine, ending in a less attractive, less resilient lawn.

Our Responsibility to Your Lawn

We could offer monthly mowing if it were only about adding options or increasing sales, but that’s not how we do things at Neighbourhood Heroes. Our mission is to do what’s right for our neighbours—and that means following proven lawn care best practices, even when it means saying “no” to popular requests. Offering a monthly mowing option just wouldn’t be honest or responsible.

Our Professional Recommendation 

For a strong, beautiful lawn, we recommend maintaining a grass height of 2.5–3 inches throughout the summer. Achieving this requires mowing at least every two weeks for most properties. Bi-weekly (every two weeks) mowing helps ensure your grass never gets too long, avoids stress on your turf, and results in a lush, healthy lawn all season.
