At Neighbourhood Heroes, step ladders might be the most misunderstood tool in our kit. If you ever see one of our heroes carrying a step ladder, rest assured: we’re not climbing fences or trying to defeat your home’s security.

Why Heroes Use Step Ladders

Some backyard gates have latches that are simply too high or hard to reach from the ground—especially from the outside. Our step ladders are brought along so our team can safely and respectfully reach these awkward latches, keeping your experience smooth and minimizing avoidable delays.

Never to jump over a fence

Heroes never scale fences or climb over barriers to enter your backyard.

Never to unlock locked gates

We don’t use ladders to access yards blocked by locks or barriers—mechanically locked or blocked gates are always respected.

Always to provide safe, timely service

If a latch is just out of reach, a step ladder helps us get you the service you expect, without the risk of injury or property damage.

What Happens If Access Isn’t Possible?

If a gate is locked, purposely blocked, or simply not accessible with a step ladder, a hero will not attempt entry. Instead, you’ll receive a prompt call or message to arrange access or reschedule your visit—never a surprise or forced entry.
