Power-Edging

Professional Borders for a Perfect Lawn

What is Power Edging?

Power edging is a landscaping service that creates sharp, defined lines between your lawn and any hard surface—think driveways, sidewalks, and boulevards. Unlike the perimeter trimmer (which tidies up fence lines and areas the mower can’t reach), a power edger uses a rotary blade to precisely separate grass from pavement. The result? A perfectly crisp edge that takes your front yard’s appearance to the next level.

 Power Edging vs. Perimeter Trimming

It’s easy to confuse these two tools, but their purposes are completely different:

Power Edging

**Uses a rotary blade to cut along the meeting point between grass and pavement, producing a straight, professional border, an "Edge".**

Perimeter Trimming

Reaches tight spots by fences, around trees, and in places the mower can’t access, but does not create a manicured edge along walkways or driveways.

Where Do We Power Edge?

Our power-edging service is dedicated to the visible, high-impact areas of your property:

  1. Front Lawn Edges
  2. Boulevard Grass Edges (Up to city limit)
  3. Front Driveways and Front Sidewalks

These areas benefit most from that clean, sharp look that immediately boosts curb appeal.

Please Note: This is an aesthetic, value-added service we include at essentially no cost for your front driveway and sidewalks only. If you also want backyard areas power edged, just ask—being the Neighbourhood Heroes, we’ll always do our best to help!

What to Expect

Our skilled professionals visit monthly or as needed to deliver:

  1. Sharp, well-defined landscape borders along driveways, sidewalks, and boulevards
  2. A manicured, finished look that truly sets off your lawn’s health and colour
  3. A positive first impression for anyone visiting your home

We use professional-grade machines to remove any overgrown grass and soil, leaving a straight, beautiful cut every time.

Important Service Limitations

We always want to provide the best results for our neighbours, while protecting your property and our equipment. That’s why there are some situations where we cannot perform power edging:

No Soft Material Borders

We do not power edge along plastic, rubber, vinyl, or any other soft material border or edging, as these can be damaged by the high-speed metal blade.

No Curved or Jagged Edges

Power edging is designed for straight, defined lines. We are unable to edge borders that are not straight or that curve unpredictably.

Hardscape Surfaces

For borders formed by cobblestone, flagstone, rough brick, broken pavement, or other uneven hard surfaces, our heroes will use their best judgement. If there’s any risk of damage to property or equipment, or if a clean, straight edge cannot be created safely, we may decline the power edging in those spots.

Our team is always happy to answer questions before a visit. Let us know if you’re unsure whether your lawn's borders can be power-edged safely—we’ll provide honest advice to help you keep your property looking its best.
